Apple updates Xsan to version 2.1

Apple late Thursday updated its Xsan network file system for Mac OS X and Mac OS X Server to version 2.1, releasing new versions of the Xsan Filesystem, Admin application, and Uninstaller utility.

Filesystem Update 2.1 [26.7MB] is recommended for all systems running Xsan 2. This update includes general file system fixes, as well as specific fixes for:

- metadata controller reliability
- using and validating file system Access Control Lists
- upgrading from Xsan 1.4

Meanwhile, Xsan 2.1 Admin Update [4.2MB] is also recommended for all systems running Xsan 2. This update includes general administration fixes for remotely administering, configuring and maintaining Xsan deployments, and includes specific fixes for:

- using SAN Setup Assistant to configure volumes, LUNs and affinities
- changing a computer between client and metadata controller roles
- listing computers connected to the SAN
- visually displaying when LUNs have been truncated

Also released was Xsan 2.1 Uninstaller [462K], which will remove Xsan from your computer. It will also remove the Xsan Admin application and documentation files.
