Apple said to hold 'iPad 3' event first week in March

    Black Friday at Amazon: cameras, GPS, hard drives, and more

    In addition to its 66% off sale on Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac, Amazon has slashed prices on a range of digital cameras and HD camcorders, GPS navigators, hard drives, flash drives, blu-ray players, LCD displays, and movies.

    Digital Cameras

    Amazon has cut $70 off the Canon PowerShot SD770IS 10MP with 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom, bringing the cost down to $159.94, and $53 off the Nikon Coolpix S550, reducing the cost to $146.95. Similarly, it's offering 15 - 40% off Fujifilm digital cameras.

    The online retailer also slashed the price of the Nikon D200 10.2MP Digital SLR Camera (Body Only) by $1050, bringing the cost down to $799.98.

    Other deals include over 25% off a trio of Pentax Digital SLR and point and shoot cameras -- Pentax K20D Body ($742.00), Pentax K20D with lens ($819.98), and Pentax Optio A40 ($182.90.

    Video Cameras

    For digital video cameras, Amazon is offering a free battery ($150 value) with the purchase of either the Canon HG21 or HG20 High-Def hard disk drive camcorder. The retailer is offering a $416 discount on the HG21, bringing the cost down to $833.40, and a $348 discount on the HG20, dropping the cost to $551.12.

    GPS systems

    In the GPS department, Amazon is offering discounts of between 39 - 50% on more than half a dozen in-car navigation systems. The final sale price of the systems are as follows TomTom ONE ($99.99), TomTom ONE Refurbished ($79.98), Pharos PDR200 ($99.99), Garmin nüvi 350 ($149.85), Navigon 2200T ($149.99), Garmin nüvi 360 ($169.99), and Navigon 7200T ($249.99).

    Hard drives, flash drives, and Flash Memory cards

    On the storage front, Amazon has cut between 16 and 58% off hard disk drives from Seagate, LaCie, and Western Digital; between 13 and 56% off portable hard drives from Maxtor, LaCie, Western Digital, Seagate, and Verbatim; between 14 and 46% off network & media drives from Iomega, Seagate, and LaCie; between 11 and 85% off USB flash drives from Kingston, HP and Transcend; and between 28 and 74% off Flash memory cards from Kingston, Transcend, Eye-Fi, and HP.

    HDTVs, Blu-ray players, and LCD displays

    For HDTVs, Amazon is selling the Sharp Aquos 42-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV for $999.98, a $500 discount. It's also offering the Sony BDP-S350 1080p Blu-ray player for $214.96, a $85 discount, and the Samsung BD-P2500 1080p Blu-ray player for $269.95, a $130 discount.

    A half dozen LCD displays are also on sale with discounts ranging from $50 to $284. They include the Samsung Touch 20-inch ($249.00), Samsung 2433BW 24-inch ($336.47), Samsung SyncMaster 19-inch ($158.32), Samsung 2233BW 22-inch ($214.31), LG L227WTG 22-inch ($259.95), and Samsung Touch 26-inch ($449.00).

    Movies

    Amazon also promises "insane deals" on DVD and Blu-ray movies from 2:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday.

    Other Black Friday sales

    Other electronics retailers holding Black Friday sales include Buy.com, CompUSA, J&R, B&H Photo, Abe's of Maine, Kodak, HP, Staples, MacWarehouse UK, Dell, and Walmart.
